My name is Gail and I was born on the east coast of Scotland and moved to England with my family at the age of 16. From the age of 18 I travelled extensively throughout Europe with a passion for travelling to new & exciting places. When I wasn’t travelling the majority of my work was in hospitality, including a family run business. At the age of 25 I fulfilled a childhood passion and vision, studying a 2 year full time Beauty Therapy course, qualifying in face and body BABTAC Diplomas.

A desire to travel with my new found skill, took me to different parts of the world, including Australia where I worked in a beauty clinic alongside my college friend & travelling buddy. Australia is where I met my husband, Nick, who is now not only my husband but my business partner.

While living back in the UK I spent time exploring other avenues of health and wellbeing, working as a Physiotherapy Technician in a local hospital, a Chiropractor’s Assistant and as a Healthcare Assistant in multiple primary care environments. These experiences of client & patient contact taught me valuable lessons in caring, respecting, and valuing people, sometimes at their most vulnerable and I have prided myself on keeping a high standard work ethic.

In 2014 my husband & I emigrated to New Zealand moving to New Plymouth, Taranaki with our two beautiful kids to make a new life here. After a five year period of working in retail and intermediate education, my passion for the health and beauty industry remained so I took the plunge of self-employment in October 2019, and turned a small area of my home into my clinic, Skinsay Laser NZ, primarily focusing on hair removal using intense pulsed light therapy (IPL).

In 2020 the world pandemic closed my doors on and off for over a year, and I can’t deny it wasn’t a difficult time for a first time small business owner. But it was also a great learning period and the challenge before me was to remain focused on my ambition to succeed & extend my skills in the field that I loved.

These currently include the following treatments - laser tattoo removal & laser therapy facials, dermaplaning, dermal needling, IPL hair removal & skin treatment therapies as well as relaxing facials with professional products. I’m focused on self-development to improve my skills, with the aim to grow, fulfill dreams and succeed!

With my husband’s support & belief and with the help of other incredible people in my life, we are building Skinsay Clinic to be what we feel our clients deserve – a private, friendly space where you receive a one on one service with your best interests as our priority offering specialized treatments.
